Ball-throwing game "L'ours joueur d'orgue de barbarie"

A ball-throwing game. The bear’s mouth being the target. The balls fail into the barrel organ, which is divided in three compartments, showing the number of points won. It was made of papier-mâché, no doubt for reasons of weight. You can imagine the stallholder carrying his jog with him on his back and it quite amazing to find that it has lasted this long.

The bear playing the monkey organ is an amusing paradox which reminds us that the street musician was often a bear leader and caricatures the worrying aspect and unusual bearing of this beggar.
