Automaton by Gustave Vichy: the Fruit Seller.
Black character on foot carrying a tray of three fruits, opening one after the other to discover animated surprises. Eleven movements.
Animation of the head (up/down and right/left) and blinking of the eyelids.
Opening of the three fruits with:
- In the apple, a monkey’s head in motion from right to left, which winks eyes and with articulated jaw.
- in the pear, a cute bisque doll dances;
- and in a peach, a mouse trotting after its tail.
The original musicbox plays three melodies.
