Multi-Cylinders Music Box
Harp, Zyther Tremolo by BREMOND, Genève vers 1875
This important music box of the firm Brémond in Geneva, has three interchangeable cylinders, noted with mandolin effect, for a three-sectioned comb of metal blades. The central comb has a zither, small mobile flap with a roll of tissue paper, which can be applied to the teeth to change the vibration and thus the timbre and give the illusion of a plucked string instrument.
As soon as a new opera was performed, the musicians practiced musical arrangement on pinned cylinders and turned it into fine music for the salons.
