Alexandre-Nicolas THEROUDE - Flute Player Automaton
Circa 1878
Restored in 2012 by Le LUDION workshop, this life-size automaton plays the flute nonchalantly leaning against a stump. In fact, it is a mechanical pipe organ hidden in the chest and made by organ builder Pierre-Ernest Kelsen, that actually sounds the scene. Declared as a National Treasure, it is now part of Mucem collection in Marseille.
