National Cash Register
Cash register - Model 592X-E
NATIONAL CASH REGISTER COMPANY
1909
This mechanical engineering masterpiece and industrial design, has established itself in the early twentieth century as an indispensable management tool and prestige for businesses around the world.
Designed by the National Cash Register Company (NCR), founded in 1884 in Ohio by John H. Patterson, our machine benefits from an innovation of importance, because since 1906, NCR equips its most sophisticated machines with an electric motor.
It is entirely decorated with bronze motifs chiseled on all its faces in an elaborate Edwardian style, mixing floral patterns, palmettes and volutes, typical of high-valued machines. The set rests on a wooden base, with its cash drawer.
The glass windows indicate the amounts in "Francs" and "Centimes" which are visible to both the customer and the seller. Its serial number 742637 indicates 1909 as the year of manufacture.
