Automatic Disc changing Music Box Mod. 4
POLYPHON MUSIKWERKE Leipzig circa 1895
The usual criticism of cylinder music boxes is the difficulty of changing repertoire. One of the solutions patented was to note the scores on perforated metal discs. Handling it became quite easy.
This coin-slot model for cafes and other public places has a mechanism for automatic change of the disc.
Polyphon was founded in 1888 by two former workers of Paul Lochmann and employed more than two thousand people in the factory on the Leipzig area.
